South Florida Trial Lawyers

Welcome to Jacobs Keeley, PLLC South Florida's premier law firm located in downtown Miami. We are a full service law firm practicing primarily in the areas of Debt Defense & Criminal Defense. Both partners, Bruce Jacobs and Court Keeley, are former Miami-Dade County prosecutors and former bank lawyers. Together, they have over 100 trials between them.

The senior partner, Bruce Jacobs, spent years representing banks in foreclosures. In 2008, Bruce decided to focus his practice on helping homeowners and traveled the country attending seminars to train on cutting edge legal strategies. In 2013, Court Keeley joined forces with Bruce after leaving the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office where he prosecuted a wide variety of crimes including but not limited to capital murder, sexual battery, human trafficking and complex fraud. He also worked in various specialized units such as the Career Criminal/Robbery Unit, the Human Trafficking Task Force and the Gang Strike Force. Like Bruce, Court is an experienced trial attorney with a diverse background. Court recently earned recognition from the Florida Bar as a Board Certified Specialist in Criminal Trial Law.

At Jacobs Keeley, PLLC, we proudly use our knowledge and trial experience to empower homeowners, real estate investors, debtors and criminal defendants in order to level the playing field. We constantly train on innovative legal strategies. We provide insight and information for the client to make the best strategic decisions in order to deal with their problems.

In our Debt Defense practice, we have always questioned and criticized the loan modification process where banks forced thousands of frustrated homeowners through a loss mitigation nightmare that routinely ended in foreclosure. Banks lost paperwork and made false promises while pushing homeowners deeper into debt. In response, the lawyers at Jacobs Keeley, PLLC launched a comprehensive counter-attack to expose the weaknesses in the Bank's ability to foreclose.

For many, fighting back is the best hope to save a home from foreclosure. By fighting back and creating problems for the Bank, we help our clients create the best chance for meaningful loan modifications with principal balance reductions. For others hoping to simply get away from an underwater property, fighting back is the best protection against being forced to pay the unpaid principal balance, even after a short sale or abandoning the property.

In 2014, Jacobs Keeley, PLLC developed a new practice area based on regulations issued by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Now borrowers have the right to sue Banks for the loss mitigation nightmares that plagued them for so many years. We’ve now built our Consumer Rights and Debt Defense practices to include comprehensive strategies to sue Banks and Debt Collectors for their abusive tactics, such as debt collectors robo-calling your cell phone in violation of federal law.

Jacobs Keeley, PLLC has a team of attorneys ready to vigorously defend you if you are in foreclosure. A well-defended foreclosure has many benefits:

  • You can continue to live in your home during the fight
  • You can continue to collect rent from investment properties
  • You may get a meaningful loan modification offer that brings the principal balance on your loan down to or even below the market value of your home
  • You may avoid a deficiency judgment on an underwater property
  • You could develop facts that will force the bank to settle on better terms
  • You may actually win your case and keep your home
